Kate Howe’s long-awaited open studio event at RuptureXIBIT (+Studio) previews emerging paintings driven by Howe’s important and timely PhD research.

From 5th - 9th June experience Kate Howe’s emerging body of work at RuptureXIBIT (+Studio’s) long-awaited Open Studio event. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to look inside the artist’s practice and explore the studio in its entirety during a pause in the generative process. Join us in conversation with Howe at the Private View of this event on Saturday 8th June as they take us on an intimate tour of their practice, followed by live music throughout the evening and a chance to speak with the artist themselves.

Howe will be previewing the work which formed their Ph.D Research proposal: “Collecting Rape: Collation, Curation and Response to every item in the Victoria and Albert Museum and Archives that takes Rape as its subject,” which they are undertaking at Leeds University.

This Open Studio event will also feature work from Artists in Residence Sally Minns and Olivia England, along with work from the 2nd Shift collective whose front gallery residency has been extended throughout the duration of this Open Studios.

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Open Studios event; we are blown away by the amazing energy of the evening! Thank you also to Janet and the band for filling the space with music. It was nice opening the studio as our home as opposed to set up for a show - welcoming in our community, seeing people playing in the studio the way we do and having such wonderful and enthusiastic conversations!
