Colours of the Thames Workshop

2nd July

2nd July - Colours of the Thames: Watercolour making workshop led by Chistine Chua and Zoey Chang, a recent graduate from Slade School of Fine Art.

2nd July, 10-5pm

£30 per person.

Join us at RuptureXIBIT Gallery on the 2nd July for ‘Colours of the Thames’, a unique and immersive workshop where participants will have the opportunity to create their own watercolour paints using rocks gathered by avid mudlarker Christine Chua directly from the banks of the Thames River.

Throughout the history of painting, the process of creating natural pigments from various natural sources has been cherished as a time-honoured tradition, connecting artists with the world around them.

During this workshop, you will be guided through the process of transforming these ordinary river rocks into vibrant pigments. Grinding, blending, and refining the pigments ready to be infused with water and artistic expression. Once the pigments are prepared, Christine will share fundamental techniques teaching you how to manipulate the pigments on paper, creating captivating textures, embracing them with your own creativity.  Feel the connection with the Thames River and infusing your paintings with a sense of place and history.

Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop offers a unique experience to learn a new skill. Take home your watercolours and creations, and join us at the end of the day and celebrate with beer and an evening exhibition at the gallery. All materials are provided for this workshop, please bring your own lunch and snacks.
